A few new year paintings

It's been a while, and will probably be another while until the next post.

This was the first one of the new year I think. The arms were seriously out of proportion so I fixed them digitally.

01-31-07

I took these cool busts of composers from Heather. This started as a full color exercise, but I liked how the drawing was going so left in monochromatic.

Believe it or not, this is the THIRD standing pose in a year of painting. I'd prefer more, but the models say its hard work. And this is the first pose lit from below, and will probably be the last. It wasn't that great a picture from any other angle than straight on.

I fixed the proportions of the legs and played with the colors. I should start simplifying my shadows to one or two colors, but i see more temperature variations in the shadows than in the light side.

These are great. All very nice. I especially like the one of the woman with the strong shadow. Very nice.

Once again, a fine job with the light. I love the chiaruscuro effect.
